A few weeks after a group of testers at Raven Software voted to form a union, it was officially recognized by Activision Blizzard. The company’s CEO Bobby Kotick has also promised to begin negotiations with the Communications Workers of America (CWA).

Members of Raven Software’s QA team have voted to unionize following pressure from Activision Blizzard and a wave of layoffs. This will be the first official union formed at a US-listed game company.

Activision Blizzard has decided to convert 1,100 testers to full-time employees and increase their pay in the wake of ongoing criticism. However, members of the Raven Software QA team won’t get any raises.

Raven Software employees have asked Microsoft about its position on the potential unionization. The company said it won’t stand in the way in case Activision Blizzard approves a union in the first place.
