SEGA has announced a new strategic partnership with Microsoft. It will let the company create global games using the Azure cloud platform.
As SEGA pointed out on November 1, the partnership is the next step towards a new initiative called “Super Game” aimed at developing innovative titles with focuses on global, online, community, and IP utilization.
“By considering a strategic partnership with Microsoft, we seek to further advance our game development so that our titles can be enjoyed by fans all over the world,” SEGA president Yukio Sugino said. “In this regard, we aim to build an alliance that utilizes both SEGA’s powerful game development capabilities and Microsoft’s cutting-edge technology and development environment.”
According to SEGA, the deployment of new technologies and cloud services will allow players to get easier access to high-quality games and experiences. With the help of Microsoft, the company will also build network infrastructure and required tools for online titles.
