Microsoft has agreed to convert a grup of contract workers into unionized employees. This is a result of the company’s talks with the CMA and ZeniMax Workers United.

Bethesda parent company ZeniMax has a new subsidiary in Europe. According to third-party sources, it has acquired Hungurian studio Nemesys Games, known for its work on The Elder Scrolls Online.

Hundreds of workers at ZeniMax Media have started taking steps to form their own union. This would require recognition from Microsoft, which pledged to stay neutral throughout this process.

In 2021, the video games industry has seen 635 deals announced and/or closed that are worth a combined $60 billion.

Now that the acquisition of ZeniMax has been approved by regulators, Microsoft is ready to publicly reveal the details of this deal in a video presentation. However, no new game announcements are expected.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission has just accepted Microsoft’s filing for its deal with ZeniMax. The European Commission is the only instance left to approve the acquisition.

ZeniMax is about to be merged with Microsoft’s newly created subsidiary Vault, while EU is now preparing to decide whether to approve the $7.5 billion acquisition.
