Beamdog, best known for remasters of classic RPGs like Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment, has reportedly been hit with layoffs. It appears to be another victim of the ongoing restructuring at Embracer Grpoup, which acquired the studio last year.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake might be in “serious trouble” after three years into development. Aspyr Media has put the game on pause, with some devs thinking it will be taken over by another studio.

Aspyr Media, which is a part of Embracer Group, has acquired Beamdog. It will also publish the studio’s upcoming roguelite MythForce.

At this point, it’s safe to say that BioWare and EA have nothing to do with the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Instead, the game is being developed by Aspyr, a studio known for porting titles on different platforms.
