Sony has announced an acquisition of Haven Studios, which was founded by Jade Raymond last year. The team is now working on the exclusive live service game for PlayStation 5.
Hermen Hulst shared the news on March 21, saying that PlayStation was thrilled to invest in Haven Studios’ original IP.
“As a SIE first-party studio, we will have the opportunity to collaborate with some of the world’s most renowned development teams, including studios like Guerrilla, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, and Insomniac Games, the creators of games that have inspired us as players and developers for years,” Raymond said of the acquisition.
Haven Studios is now working on an unannounced AAA multiplayer title. Although there are not many details about it yet, the game will feature an evolving world focused on “freedom, thrill, and playfulness that will keep players entertained and engaged for years.”
Jade Raymond founded Haven Studios in March 2021. The studio, which now employs 60 people, is based in Montreal and marks PlayStation’s first acquisition in Canada.
Earlier this year, Sony snapped up Bungie, which had years of experience in the area of multiplayer titles, for $3.6 billion. The company is now on track to launch 10 new live service games by March 2026, with Haven’s upcoming project probably being one of them.
