PlayWay has published its financial report for the first quarter of 2024 ended March 31. The Polish publisher posted its best Q1 in terms of revenue, also seeing strong profit growth.

  • According to its consolidated quarterly report, PlayWay reached PLN 66.9 million ($16.9 million) in net revenue in Q1 2024, up 4.7% year-over-year.
  • Operating profit grew 15.4% year-over-year to PLN 47.4 million ($12 million), while net profit increased 27.7% to PLN 46.8 million ($11.8 million).
  • Sales of House Flipper, including its DLCs, accounted for 28.5% of the company’s total revenue, or PLN 19 million ($4.8 million). Its revenue grew 83.7% compared to the same period last year.
  • It is followed by Car Mechanic Simulator 18, 21, and all DLCs — 17.3% of the total, or PLN 11.5 million ($2.9 million). Their quarterly sales fell 31.7% year-over-year.
  • Other revenue drivers in Q1 2024 include Contraband Police (8.4%, $1.4 million), Cooking Simulator (6.8%, $1.1 million), and Thief Simulator (6.4%, $1 million).

  • PlayWay cited “significant volatility of the US Dollar and Euro exchange rates,” new releases from its competitors, as well as increasing prices for products and services resulting due rising inflation as the main external factors that could impact its financial performance in the next quarter.
  • Speaking of internal factors, the company named pre-production of new titles and examining interest in them, as well as contracts with other publishers.
  • In the first quarter, PlayWay launched Supermarket Manager Simulator on mobile and released Robin Hood: Sherwood Builders. It also conducted pre-launch activities for Infection Free Zone (released on April 11, 72% positive reviews) and prologue for Crime Scene Cleaner (released on April 9, 96% positive reviews).
  • Infection Free Zone also peaked at 19,380 concurrent users (CCU) on Steam, while the free prologue for Crime Scene Cleaner peaked at 3,651 CCU.
  • Interestingly, PlayWay is not directly listed as the developer or publisher of all these titles, but the Polish company controls various stakes in companies behind them. It owns 51.9% in Digital Melody Games (Supermarket Manager Simulator), 36.39% in Games Operators (publisher of Infection Free Zone), 67.5% in President Studio (developer of Crime Scene Cleaner), and 43.15% in MeanAstronauts (developer of Sherwood Builders).
  • Over the weekend, PlayWay CEO Krzysztof Kostowski also shared some stats for the company’s most recent release, Trans-Siberian Railway Simulator. The game sold 11.1k copies and reached $94.2k in gross revenue in its first three days.
