Persona 3 Reload has just been released globally to critical acclaim. We’ll have to wait before Sega shares the official sales figures, but the game’s performance on Steam already indicates a strong launch.

Persona 3 Reload peaks at 39k concurrent players, biggest launch of any Atlus game on Steam

Launched today on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, Persona 3 Reload received an average score of 89 on Metacritic. This is even higher than the original game’s Metascore of 86.

Player reception has also been great so far. At the moment of writing, Persona 3 Reload has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, with 97% of the 1,332 user reviews being positive.

It also peaked at 42,112 concurrent players (via SteamDB). This makes it the 6th new release of 2024 by that metric (and Sega now has two games in the top 10):

  1. Palworld — 2.1 million CCU;
  2. Enshrouded — 160.4k CCU;
  3. Granblue Fantasy: Relink — 73.9k CCU;
  4. Tekken 8 — 49.9k CCU;
  5. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth — 46.1k CCU.
  6. Persona 3 Reload — 42.1k CCU;
  7. Gu Long Fengyun Lu (古龙风云录) — 15.4k CCU;
  8. Summoners War (PC release) — 12.7k CCU;
  9. Winter Memories — 12.4k CCU;
  10. Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator — 9k CCU.

When looking at Atlus’ portfolio on Steam, Persona 3 Reload has the highest CCU count. It managed to surpass Persona 4 Golden (29.9k CCU) and Persona 5 Royal (35.4k CCU). The game was also localized into four additional languages — Polish, Russian, Turkish, and Portuguese – Brazil — compared to the previous titles in the series, which should also increase its appeal among global audiences.

The original Persona 3 came out on PlayStation 2 in 2006, and the Reload version offers the upgraded graphics and gameplay improvements. Given its strong launch, the remake may be a great entry point into the series for the new generations of players and those new to the IP.

Last year, Sega announced that the entire Persona franchise had sold over 17.7 million copies globally. The Persona 5 sub-series, which includes the original game, its Royal edition, and the Strikers and Dancing in Starlight spin-offs, remains the most successful one with sales of over 9 million units.
