Baldur’s Gate 3 has been a massive success for Larian Studios, topping Steam charts and receiving widespread acclaim from the press. Although the company hasn’t officially disclosed sales, there is a report hinting at possible figures.

  • The information comes from a Weibo post dedicated to the release of Baldur’s Gate 3. It was published by the official account of the Belgian Embassy in China (spotted on Reddit).
  • The embassy celebrated Larian Studios, which was founded and is still headquartered in Ghent, Belgium, claiming that the studio’s latest game has sold 5.2 million copies on Steam (as of August 16, 2023).
  • According to Bloomberg, Baldur’s Gate 3 has sold over 2.5 million units during its Early Access period. This means the game could have sold around 2.7 million copies in less than two weeks since its global 1.0 launch on August 3.
  • It is worth noting that the information provided by the Belgian Embassy is best taken with a grain of salt, given that Larian Studios hasn’t yet shared official figures.

Following its launch, Baldur’s Gate 3 entered the top 10 Steam games of all time by concurrent players, peaking at over 875k CCU. Hundreds of thousands of people continue to play it daily, indicating a high level of engagement.
