Nintendo’s MOBA Pokémon UNITE has reached a new milestone. The Tencent-developed game has now generated over 70 million downloads globally since its launch.
The information appeared in a description of the latest video on the official Japanese Pokémon YouTube channel (first spotted by Game Rant). The game’s downloads surpassed a 70 million mark both on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
Pokémon UNITE is a free-to-play MOBA developed by Tencent’s subsidiary TiMi Studios and published by The Pokémon Company. The game came out on Nintendo Switch in July 2021 and launched on mobile in September. It generated $1.7 million on iOS and Android in the first five days since launch, reaching 50 downloads last December.
Despite all the success, Pokémon UNITE has been criticized for its matchmaking problems and pay-to-win mechanics. Developers, however, continue to support the project by adding new content and making changes to its monetization.
