Genshin Impact continues its rise to the top. Its revenue hit $874 million, making it one of the top grossing mobile titles worldwide.
miHoYo’s mobile hit only needed five months since its launch in September 2020 to generate around $874 million, according to Sensor Tower. This whopping sum comes only from mobile stores, while the game is also available on PC and PS4.
In the period between September 28, 2020 and February 28, 2021, Genshin Impact was the third top grossing mobile game in the world. It surpassed Pokémon GO and Roblox, with only PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings sitting ahead.
The game also became the top earning mobile RPG globally, generating an average of $175 million per month.
China accounts for 29% of Genshin Impact’s global player spending, with a revenue of $253 million (and it only comes from the App Store, as Google Play is officially banned in the country). Japan holds second place ($237 million) and the US ranks third ($162 million).
Genshin Impact’s best month for revenue was October 2020, when the game generated around $234 million. It managed to earn $150 million each of the following months.
According to miHoYo’s latest report, Genshin Impact helped the studio double its revenue and earn almost $800 million last year.
