Yesterday, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted she was going to stream Among Us. In a matter of hours, more than 170 thousand people subscribed to her Twitch channel.
“Anyone want to play Among Us with me on Twitch to get out the vote? (I’ve never played but it looks like a lot of fun),” wrote Ocasio-Cortez, 31, the youngest congresswoman in the history of the country.
After this tweet, which already has 362 thousand likes, the politician turned to her subscribers asking them who she should be streaming with. Several popular streamers like Pokimane and HasanAbi responded in the comments to the proposal.
Ocasio-Cortez plans to play Among Us tomorrow on her newly created Twitch channel. In less than a day, it grew to 174 thousand followers.
That’s some way to encourage citizens to vote! It seems to be working though. What makes it even more effective is the fact that Ocasio-Cortez herself is an known gamer. She previously admitted that she often plays League of Legends.
