The Witcher 3 game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has shared first details about an upcoming dark fantasy RPG from his new studio Rebel Wolves. The team wants to stay relatively small and offer a unique experience to players.

Tomaszkiewicz opened up about the project in an interview with PolskiGamedev.pl. Here are some key takeaways from the conversation:
- The developer described the unannounced game as the “Holy Grail” of RPGs, which will combine an open world with a strong story;
- “The scope of this game will not be as gigantic as The Witcher, but the amount of quests will be I think greater than it was in The Witcher,” Tomaszkiewicz said (via CD-Action), adding that the game’s size will be close to the Blood and Wine expansion;
- He also noted that Rebel Wolves wants to change three elements of the RPG genre, but didn’t clarify what those elements are;
- The game will be built with Unreal Engine 5 because working with a good third-party engine is more convenient and better for the project than creating in-house technology;
- Tomaszkiewicz took into account his experience as Cyberpunk 2077 secondary game director, so the new team won’t rush the release and will take their time to finish the project;
- Rebel Wolves will remain a medium-sized studio with a maximum headcount of 80 people;
- The company also pledges to offer creative freedom to its employees and help them achieve a work-life balance.
Rebel Wolves was founded earlier this year. Besides Tomaszkiewicz, the team consists of other industry veterans, including the ones who worked on The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077.
