Apple sued for allowing devs to market games with loot boxes on App Store
Last Friday, a proposed class action lawsuit was filed with the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. It alleges that Apple allows games with loot boxes on the App Store, a mechanic that constitutes gambling thus violating California law.
EndeavorRX, world’s first prescription video game
Akili Interactive’s EndeavorRx, previously known as Project EVO, became the first video game that is officially a medicine in the US. It was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be prescribed for children between ages eight and twelve years old who have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Epic Games to raise $750 million
Epic Games is about to raise a $750 million round of funding, which will value the company at about $17 billion. This is according to Bloomberg, which relies on sources familiar with the matter.
Existing investors including KKR & Co. will participate in the round, while some funding will come from new investors like T. Rowe Price Group Inc. and Baillie Gifford.
In 2018, the company behind Fortnite and Unreal Engine was valued at $15 billion.
