Lies of P, a Pinocchio-inspired soulslike from South Korean publisher Neowiz and its subsidiary Round8 Studio, has sols over 1 million units globally. It reached this impressive milestone less than a month after its launch.
It is unclear how sales are split between the platforms, but Lies of P is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Mac. The game can also be played through Game Pass, so the total number of players is likely even higher.
According to Neowiz co-CEO Seungchul Kim, the 1 million milestone “proves the potential of Korean console games on the global stage.”

Lies of P came out on September 18 and received positive reviews from critics, with an average score on Metacritic ranging from 80 (PS5) to 84 (Xbox Series X|S). Player reception has also been great so far. On Steam, the game currently holds a “Very Positive” rating, with 89% of the 9,900 user reviews being positive.
Its demo was also one of the most popular during the Steam Next Fest in June, generating over 1 million downloads and helping the game reach the top spot among the most wishlisted upcoming games on the platform.
Upon its launch, Lies of P also peaked at 19,618 concurrent players (via SteamDB) and debuted in the top 10 on the Weekly Top Sellers chart.
Founded in 1997, Neowiz made a name for itself by publishing various online games. It even developed Battlefield Online, a free-to-play shooter, in partnership with DICE. In its recent history, Neowiz focused on the premium segment with titles like Skul: The Hero Slayer and now Lies of P.
Lies of P sales compared to other soulslike games
Below are the officially disclosed sales figures for some notable Soulslike games or titles that at least draw some core elements from the genre:
- Hellpoint — “300k unique users across all platforms” in two years;
- Mortal Shell — 500k units sold in six months (1 million copies in one year);
- Lords of the Fallen (2014) — 900k units sold in seven months;
- Nioh — 1 million copies (including retail shipments) in 17 days;
- Nioh 2 — 1 million copies sold in two months;
- Code Vein — 1 million copies sold in just over four months;
- Remnant: From the Ashes — 1 million copies sold in two months;
- Remnant II — 1 million copies sold in its first week.
Of course, FromSoftware games, including the Dark Souls series (33.4 million units sold) and especially Elend Ring (20 million copies sold), remain at the top of the genre they once crafted and popularized. But judging by the first numbers, Lies of P is already one of the most successful launches among other titles in the category.
