The exact number of Death Stranding sales has never been revealed until now. According to Kojima Productions, the game has sold more than 5 million copies globally on PlayStation 4 and PC.

Digital Bros, which owns publisher 505 Games, reported financial results for the first half of the fiscal year ended December 31. Death Stranding was the company’s main driver, earning over €23 million since its release on PC.

Game designer Hideo Kojima said that Death Stranding was profitable on PlayStation 4. This is despite the rumors suggsting otherwise, as well as the reluctance of Sony to disclose any sales data for the title.

Sony put too much faith in Kojima. The latest project of the Japanese genius, according to rumors, failed to make a return on investment. Now the company plans for Kojima Productions to develop a game based on the popular IP and with a smaller budget.
