On December 18, miHoYo released patch 1.4 for Zenless Zone Zero, titled “A Storm of Falling Stars.” As a result, the game has seen impressive growth in its daily revenue on iOS and Android.

A Storm of Falling Stars introduced two new characters, banners, areas, events, and other content. In addition, miHoYo adjusted some gameplay mechanics, added new features, and fixed various issues.

According to AppMagic, the launch of patch 1.4 led to a sharp increase in player spending on mobile. Zenless Zone Zero’s revenue began to rise the day before the update release, reaching $1.31 million on December 17.

On December 18, the game surpassed $6 million in net IAP revenue (reduced by platform fees and inclusive taxes). This represents a 22x increase (+2,098%) from December 16, when ZZZ generated $275.6k.

The previous record of $5.7 million was set on July 5, shortly after the global launch of Zenless Zone Zero.

For comparison, Honkai: Star Rail’s record daily revenue is $11 million (March 27, 2024), while Genshin Impact has an all-time high of $15.5 million (September 3, 2021).

Overall, ZZZ generated nearly $22 million from in-app purchases between December 18 and 22. China accounted for more than half of the total, followed by Japan (26.6%), South Korea (9.6%), the US (5.3%), and Taiwan (2.5%).

AppMagic data shows that Zenless Zone Zero’s lifetime net revenue on mobile amounts to $172.7 million. 35% of that amount came from Japan. The top 5 countries include China (33%), the US (10.4%), South Korea (9.7%), and Taiwan (3%).

It is worth noting that AppMagic doesn’t track IAP revenue from third-party Android stores, so China is likely the all-time leader on mobile. The game is also available on PC and PS5.

Zenless Zone Zero currently ranks as the 14th top-grossing mobile RPG of 2024 globally, right between Plarium’s Raid: Shadow Legends ($194.5 million) and Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball Legends ($154.7 million).

DnF Mobile ranks 1st with over $769 million in IAP revenue (keep in mind that it is only available in China, and we don’t have data for third-party Android stores). It is followed by two other hits from miHoYo, Honkai: Star Rail ($580.8 million) and Genshin Impact ($504.6 million).
