The FIFA video game license might find a new home at Take-Two’s subsidiary 2K Games. This comes two years after the organization ended its long-lasting partnership with Electronic Arts.

The information came from MohPlay Inc, a Ghana-based video game retailer. “2K has secured the official license from FIFA to create the next FIFA video game,” a post reads. “The partnership is confirmed, and 2K will be developing a new football game series.”

According to MohPlay Inc, FIFA 2K25 is expected to launch in 2024, although the game hasn’t even been announced yet.

Neither FIFA nor 2K Games haven’t commented on the rumors, so this information should be taken with a grain of salt. However, earlier this year, Insider Gamer reported that FIFA and 2K were “working to announce a partnership for 2K to make an officially-licensed FIFA game.” So this isn’t the first time we’ve seen reports like this.

In May 2022, Electronic Arts announced the termination of its 30-year agreement with FIFA. As a result, the football game franchise was renamed EA Sports FC, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the company’s history.

EA Sports FC 24, the first installment in the updated series, launched last year and debuted at #1 on the UK Boxed Charts. It also peaked at over 82k concurrent users on Steam alone and reached 11.3 million players in its first week across all platforms.

If 2K really did manage to secure the official FIFA license, it would be a strong addition to its portfolio of sports game, which includes series such as NBA 2K, PGA Tour 2K, WWE 2K, and Top Spin.
