- The Stronghold remaster crossed the 100k mark in its first three days, meaning it took the game around 14 months to sell another 400k units.
- For comparison, the original Stronghold, released in 2001, had sold 1.5 million copies by 2004.
- Stronghold: Definitive Edition currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with 86% of the 7,234 reviews being positive. It also peaked at 9,672 concurrent players on the platform.
- The remaster received two DLCs with additional campaigns, Swine’s Bay and Valley of the Wolf. The latter, however, received mixed reviews from users, who criticized the content of most missions.
Founded in 1999, FireFly is a UK developer best known for the Stronghold series. Its portfolio also includes titles like RTS Space Colony and city builder CivCity: Rome (in partnership with Firaxis Games). The studio was acquired by Devolver Digital in 2021 along with two other studios, Dodge Roll (Enter the Gungeon) and Nerial (Reigns).
Last year, FireFly also released mobile RTS Stronghold Castles (free-to-play with in-app purchases), but it seems to be far from successful. According to AppMagic, the game only generated around $7k in net IAP revenue.
