While we all know which game topped the Steam charts last week, there were still plenty of interesting changes and comebacks. Let’s take a closer look at the highest-grossing titles on the platform over the past seven days.

Steam charts: Sins of a Solar Empire II ranks behind only Black Myth: Wukong among premium games in gross revenue

Black Myth: Wukong was the highest-grossing product on Steam for the week of August 13-20. Following strong pre-orders and massive launch, the game managed to dethrone Counter-Strike 2.

Game Science’s title is now breaking records on the platform, already ranking as the 2nd biggest game of all time by peak CCU. At the time of writing, the game peaked at over 2.2 million concurrent players, and that number is likely to increase.

Wukong and CS2 are followed by PUBG and Steam Deck, with Once Human rounding out the top 5 (up nine positions from the previous week).

One of the biggest surprises of the week was probably the strong debut of Sins of a Solar Empire II, sequel to a 2008 real-time 4X strategy game from Ironclad. It landed at #9 overall (#2 when only looking at premium games), also peaking at 13,394 concurrent players.

Cyberpunk 2077 moved up 41 positions to #7 overall (#3 among premium titles), thanks to a 50% discount (its Ultimate Edition was also 43% off at $51). As a result, the Phantom Liberty expansion climbed 74 places to #25 overall. Another CD Projekt RED’s game, The Witcher 3, returned to the top 100 at #47.

Interestingly, Helldivers 2 dropped out of the top 20, falling 27 positions to #38 overall. Last week, the game ranked 11th overall and 5th among premium titles.

Below are the top 10 premium games by gross revenue for the week of August 13-20 (excluding F2P titles and Steam Deck):

shapez 2, a factory management/automation game that combines elements of the strategy and puzzle genres, debuted at #14 overall (#6 among premium titles). It currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating (98% positive), with its peak CCU reaching 18.8k.

Another hot release of the previous week was Crime Scene Cleaner, a new sim game from Polish publisher PlayWay. It landed at #15 overall (#6 among premium titles). As we previously reported, the game sold over 100k copies in its first 72 hours and grossed $1.4 million on Steam.

Cult of the Lamb returned to the charts at #13, thanks to a major free update and a historically low 50% discount. Other older games that benefited from all-time low prices were Persona 5 Royal (-60%) and Persona 3 Reload (-40%). The two JRPGs landed at #18 and #19, respectively.

Hunt: Showdown returned to the top 100 at #21 following its 1896 rebranding. Crytek’s survival shooter also broke its CCU record, peaking at over 60k concurrent players last week.

Looking at other titles on the charts, pre-orders for Dragon Age: The Veilguard landed at #30 overall. BioWare’s new RPG is expected to launch on October 31.
