PlayWay launched its new simulation game, this time putting players in the role of a Crime Scene Cleaner. The title performed well on Steam, becoming another success for the Polish company.

Crime Scene Cleaner grosses $1.4 million on Steam in 72 hours with $361k budget

  • Krzysztof Kostowski, CEO of PlayWay, shared the news on social media, saying that Crime Scene Cleaner has sold 103k copies in the first 72 hours of launch.
  • The game also reached $1.4 million in gross revenue (before Steam’s 30% cut and taxes). This means it has already recouped its budget of PLN 1.4 million ($361.7k).
  • The top three regions in terms of sales were the US, Germany, and China.
  • Crime Scene Cleaner launched with 580,682 wishlists, with China, the US, and Germany being the top countries.
  • According to Kostowski, the game has a median playtime of 5 hours and 29 minutes.

Released on August 14, Crime Scene Cleaner currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, with 97% of the 2,793 reviews being positive. Players praised the fun and addictive gameplay, with some calling it “Powerwash Simulator but with lots of blood, collectables and hidden secrets.”

Crime Scene Cleaner also peaked at 13,577 concurrent players (via SteamDB). This makes it the 5th best game in PlayWay’s publishing portfolio by peak CCU, behind House Flipper (15.9k CCU), House Flipper 2 (18.1k CCU), Infection Free Zone (19.3k CCU), and Car Mechanic Simulator 2021 (22.5k CCU).

President Studio, developer of Crime Scene Cleaner, is a Polish studio founded in 2018. PlayWay holds a 67.5% stake in the company, making it the majority owner.

Kostowski noted that the team will support Crime Scene Cleaner with DLCs, with a console release in plans. President Studio is now also working on city builder Celestial Empire, open world survival game Ship Builder, and action strategy title My Little Army.
