It is currently the fourth biggest release on the platform this year by that metric, behind Sons of the Forest (414k peak CCU), Baldur’s Gate 3 (875k), and Hogwarts Legacy (879k). In terms of peak concurrent players, Starfield also managed to top Skyrim, which has a peak of over 287k.

Despite a strong start, its rating on Steam has been declining since launch. It fell from “Very Positive” (86% positive reviews) on September 6 to “Mostly Positive” (77%). Many players complain about the game’s optimization and performance issues.
