Spotlight by Quantic Dream is a new publishing label started by the Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain developer. Two indie games, Under The Waves and Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior, are expected to come out this year.

Quantic Dream's new publishing label Spotlight targets indie game developers

Quantic Dream announced Spotlight on June 8, saying that it will support independent studios from the early conceptual stages to global launch. According to a press release, the company wants to help these teams “concentrate on producing the best possible version of the game they are developing.”

Services provided by Spotlight include financing, production support, artistic and technical advice, QA testing, localization, marketing, and worldwide distribution. On top of that, developers will be able to use Quantic Dream’s motion capture and sound studios.

“Spotlight by Quantic Dream is our way of highlighting the independent studios we believe in and of supporting their passion for their projects with all the expertise and resources of our own development studio and experienced editorial team,” Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière said in a statement.

In 2021, the French company has already published the Director’s Cut version of Sea of Solitude. But later this year, it will release the first two games specifically under the Spotlight label. Both of them were presented yesterday at the 2023 Summer Game Fest.

  • Under The Waves — a narrative adventure game created by French developer Parallel Studio. It tells the story of a diver named Stan isolated in the depths of the North Sea. The title is expected to come out on August 29 on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

  • Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior — a debut project from Sand Door Studio. It is a single-player hack’n’slash game where the player can also rewind time to create clones. According to Spotlight, it will be released for PC later this year.
