Mobile action games are on the rise, and it’s no surprise that Genshin Impact is the leader in this genre. During the first half of the year, miHoYo’s game generated around $174 million in the US stores.

According to Sensor Tower, mobile action games generated $435.7 million in the US during the first six months of 2021. It means that Genshin Impact accounted for more than a third of this amount.

Marvel Contest of Champions landed in second place by player spending among other games in the genre, followed by Dragon Ball Legends.

Action games’ revenues grew 104% year-over-year, which makes it the fastest-growing genre on mobile. It is followed by hypercasual (60.4% year-over-year increase), tabletop (41.7%), and geolocation AR titles (37%).

Despite action games’ huge rise in revenues, puzzle was the largest category by play spending in the US. During the first half of the year, it generated $2.6 billion, which is up 18.6% year-over-year.
