Respawn Entertainment can crack open a bottle of champagne. Electronic Arts (EA) announced that STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order became one of the strongest launches in the history of Star Wars-themed games.

The game set two records:

It became the fastest-selling game in the Star Wars universe in its first two weeks;

it is also the best-selling game in the Star Wars universe on PC in its initial launch window.

In all probability, the title partly owes its success to EA’s deal with Steam. In case you missed the news, EA signed an agreement with Valve in October.  Under this partnership, the EA games are once again available on Steam after eight years of being exclusively distributed via Origin.

STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order became the first EA release on Valve’s storefront where it was extensively featured on the main page.

EA initially estimated STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order to sell between 6 and 8 million copies during its current fiscal year (for comparison, STAR WARS Battlefront sales totaled 13-14 million copies over the same period). The latest news suggest that the game is living up to these expectations or maybe exceeding them.

By the way, Respawn Entertainment has recently reported that the second part of the game has already been given a green light.
