As announced in March, Google is reducing its 30 percent cut to 15 percent for all Android developers for the first $1M of revenue earned each year. This is effective from July 1st, but Google has just announced that devs can start enrolling for the reduced service fee.
Devs applying now will see Google’s service fee drop to 15 percent next month. For those enrolling after July 1, the 15% will be applied starting from the date when enrollment is completed.
Moving forward, Google will calculate your earnings on a calendar year basis (January 1–December 31) and charge devs 15 percent until they cross the $1M threshold each year. 2021, however, is different. As the program is launching halfway through the year (July 1, 2021), the 2021 earning threshold is prorated to $500,000.
