In its financial report for the first half of FY25, Ubisoft has disclosed some figures for its top-grossing franchises. This is unusual for the publisher, which typically prefers to focus on other metrics.
Ubisoft’s portfolio includes six franchises that have each surpassed €1 billion in player spending over the past decade (from September 30, 2014 to September 30, 2024). The top three can be seen below:
- Assassin’s Creed — around €4 billion;
- Rainbow Six Siege — over €3.5 billion;
- Far Cry — over €2 billion.
The other three video game series with over €1 billion in revenue are The Division, Ghost Recon, and Just Dance. Ubisoft, however, didn’t disclose figures for each IP.
Interstingly, Rainbow Six Siege alone is almost on par with the entire Assassin’s Creed franchise. The multiplayer shooter has been one of the main revenue drivers for Ubisoft since its launch in 2015, which is reflected in its financial reports. For example, R6 Siege saw double-digit growth in playtime and session days in H1 FY25.
When it comes to sales, Ubisoft rarely shares any specific figures, preferring more vague metrics like engagement and number of players.
Here are some of the officially disclosed player numbers and sales for these franchises:
- Assassin’s Creed (entire franchise) — over 200 million copies sold (as of September 2022);
- Far Cry (entire franchise) — over 90 million players (as of March 2024);
- Rainbow Six Siege — 85 million unique registered players (as of September 30, 2022)
- Just Dance (entire franchise) — over 80 million copies sold and over 140 million players (as of October 2024)
- The Division (entire franchise) — over 40 million unique players.
The first half of Ubisoft’s FY25 saw a decline in both revenue and net bookings due to a lower-than-expected launch of Star Wars Outlaws. The game missed internal targets, but the company is now working on improving its mechanics and overall quality.
Following criticism of Outlaws, Ubisoft allocated an additional €20 million to polish Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is expected to launch on February 14, 2025.
