Older hits continue to dominate Steam’s weekly top sellers, with pre-orders for upcoming major releases climbing to the top and Borderlands returning to the charts. Let’s take a closer look at the highest-grossing games on the platform over the past seven days.

Thanks to strong pre-orders, Black Myth: Wukong was the highest-grossing premium game on Steam for the week of August 6-13. It jumped five positions to take 2nd place overall, behind only Counter-Strike 2.
Another upcoming title, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, moved up 45 spots to #9 overall (#3 when only looking at premium games). This indicates strong player interest, with many pre-ordering Saber’s third-person shooter ahead of its launch on September 9.
Following the discounts, several older Call of Duty games returned to the top 100 highest-grossing games on Steam: Black Ops III (#28 overall), Modern Warfare Remastered (#45), Black Ops II (#57), and Black Ops Cold War (#70). Pre-orders helped the upcoming Black Ops 6 climb to #10 overall (#4 among premium titles), while the main Call of Duty app ranked 29th.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit, 2D horror game based on the world-known IP, debuted at #17 overall. Launched on August 7, the game received “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews from users (96% rating), also peaking at 6,995 concurrent players.
Looking at other new releases, farming / life sim Fields of Mistria ranked as 30th highest-grossing game on Steam. According to developer NPC Studio, the game has reached 100k players in its first week.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown debuted at #49 overall. The game arrived on Steam on August 8, more than six months after its global launch (its PC version was originally available on the Ubisoft Store and EGS). The Lost Crown peaked at just 1,446 concurrent players and received mixed reviews, with players criticizing the mandatory linking to Ubisoft Connect and ruined saves.
Borderlands 3 returned to the Steam charts at #21 thanks to a massive 90% discount (a movie could have reignited interest, too, but it received poor reviews and flopped with an $8.8 million opening weekend in the US). Borderlands 2, which is now 75% off, landed at #50.
Other older games that returned to the top 100 last week were God of War (#13 overall, 60% off), Titanfall 2 (#31, -90%), Fallout 4 (#43, -60%), Doom Eternal (#46, -75%), Half-Life Alyx (#51, -66%), and Battlefield 2042 (#54, -85%).
