Capcom now has another hit game in its catalog, as Street Fighter 6 reaches a new milestone. Let’s take a look at how its sales compare with other games in the long-running series.
According to a new press release, Street Fighter 6 has sold over 2 million units globally since its launch on June 2. However, it is unclear how sales are distributed across platforms (PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5).
The game took three days to cross the 1 million mark, so another million units have been sold in just over a month.
We’re proud to announce that #StreetFighter6 has sold over 2 million copies! 🤩

- SF6 is selling way faster than Street Fighter V, which reached 1.4 million copies sold in almost three months. Overall, the previous title in the series has sold 7.2 million units globally since its launch in February 2016*.
- Street Fighter IV, launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in February 2009, has reached 2.5 million copies sold by March 31, 2009. Lifetime sales of all versions of the game (Super Street Fighter IV, Arcade Edition, etc.) are 9.7 million units.
- It is hard to estimate launch sales of older games in the series due to the lack of data or their initial distribution as arcade machines.
- When looking at console releases, all versions of Street Fighter II have sold 15.5 million copies globally. It remained the best-selling fighting game of all time until overthroned by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in 2019.
*Lifetime sales are based on the latest data from Capcom’s Platinum Titles list (as of March 31, 2023).
Last month, the entire Street Fighter franchise surpassed 50 million copies sold globally. It is currently the third best-selling fighting game series, behind Super Smash Bros. (72+ million units) and Mortal Kombat (79 million copies sold since 1992).
