Popular mobile games Free Fire and PUBG Mobile might soon be banned for three months in Bangladesh. The court called these titles “destructive” for kids while also ruling to stop a few other apps.

The Bangladesh High Court ordered the government to issue a temporary ban on Free Fire, PUBG Mobile, TikTok, Likee, and Bigo Live on August 16. According to The Daily Star, the decision was made to “save children and adolescents from moral and social degradation.”
The court issued the ruling after two Supreme Court lawyers, Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallob and Mohammed Kawsar, submitted the writ petition in June. The lawyers claimed that these games and apps involve kids in violence and unethical activities, also saying they might be used for money laundering.
However, it is still unclear whether the government will follow the court’s order and ban these apps.
PUBG Mobile was banned in India last year and returned under a new name in June. It still remains one of the highest-grossing mobile battle royale globally, as well as Free Fire, which surpassed 150 million peak DAUs recently.
