Farming Simulator 25 is the first major installment in the series since 2021. Let’s take a look at its launch metrics and how they compare to previous titles.

Farming Simulator 25 peaks at over 125k CCU at launch, but receives mixed reviews from users

Launched on November 12, Farming Simulator 25 received a “Mixed” on Steam, with 66% of nearly 2,000 reviews being positive. Many users criticized the game’s optimization and technical issues, while others also pointed out the lack of improvements compared to its previous installment, FS22.

Despite mixed reception, Farming Simulator 25 quickly peaked at 126,761 concurrent players on (via SteamDB). This makes it the 14th biggest game launches this year in terms of peak CCU, outshining the likes of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO (122.5k CCU), Granblue: Fantasy: Relink (114k CCU), Liar’s Bar (113.7k CCU), and Hades II (103.5k CCU).

The top 10* can be seen below:

*Note: The list doesn’t include several games from the SteamDB charts: Banana, which peaked at over 917k concurrent users, because a) it is more of an app for speculations rather than a game (people keep it launched for hours to get tradable cards) and b) it is unclear how many of those were bots; and games that reached their peak prior to 2024 (mostly Early Access graduates like Sons of the Forest and V Rising).

  1. Black Myth: Wukong — 2.4 million CCU
  2. Palworld — 2.1 million CCU
  3. Helldivers 2 — 458.7k CCU
  4. Throne and Liberty (free-to-play) — 336.3k CCU
  5. The First Descendant (free-to-play) — 264.8k CCU
  6. Last Epoch — 264.7k CCU
  7. Once Human (free-to-play) — 231.6k CCU
  8. Dragon’s Dogma 2 — 228.5 CCU
  9. Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 — 225.6k CCU
  10. Content Warning — 204.4k CCU (reached its peak while being free-to-keep in the first 24 hours of launch)

The 126.7k peak already puts FS25 above all previous installments in the series, including FS22 (105.6k CCU), FS19 (59.4k CCU), and FS17 (32.3k CCU). The question is whether the new game can retain the active player base in the long term.

The Farming Simulator franchise is developed by Giants Software, a Switzerland-based studio founded in 2004. The company has offices in various other countries, including the US, Germany, and Czech Republic.

Giants Software hasn’t revealed any sales figures for Farming Simulator 25, but the game had strong pre-orders. It became the 10th highest-grossing product on Steam for the week of November 5-12, also ranking 4th among premium titles.

The entire Farming Simulator series has sold over 30 million copies globally since 2008, not to mention several mobile games. According to AppMagic, Giants Software has over 211 million downloads across its mobile portfolio, with more than $55 million in net IAP revenue (reduced by platform fees and inclusive taxes).
