Call of Duty: Mobile remains one of the top-grossing mobile games globally. The developers have now also boasted a new achievement in the number of installs.

Call of Duty: Mobile hits 1 billion downloads in five years

  • In a new blog post celebrating the game’s fifth anniversary, Activision Blizzard announced that Call of Duty: Mobile has generated over 1 billion downloads since its launch in 2019.
  • The company didn’t share any more data on its player base. According to AppMagic, the US ranks 1st in downloads, followed by India, Mexico, Brazil, and Russia.
  • For comparison, PUBG Mobile, developed by Tencent’s subsidiary LightSpeed Studios, reached 1 billion installs in three years. Garena’s Free Fire crossed the 1 billion mark on Google Play alone in July 2021.
  • Call of Duty: Mobile has also surpassed $3 billion in lifetime revenue, as of June 30, 2023. Activision Blizzard shared this data in its final financial report before it merged with Microsoft and stopped reporting any specific figures.
  • AppMagic data shows that Call of Duty: Mobile is currently the 23rd top-grossing mobile game of 2024 globally, with over $262 million in net IAP revenue (reduced by platform fees and inclusive taxes).
  • When it comes to shooters alone, it is second only to PUBG Mobile, which has generated over $1 billion this year so far.

Since Call of Duty: Mobile is developed by TiMi Studio Group, Activision Blizzard has to share revenue with Tencent (exact terms are unclear). That’s why the company decided to develop a native mobile version of Warzone in-house. While they’re completely different games, Activision’s first-party project has been much less successful that CoD: Mobile so far.

Launched in March 2024, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile generated just over $2 million globally in its first two weeks. According to AppMagic, the game currently sits at $13.7 million in IAP revenue, with over 37.5 million downloads.
