Counter-Strike 2 remained the top-grossing game on Steam for the week of July 30-August 6. Amid a lack of new major releases, the chart is still dominated by free-to-play titles, with The First Descendant (↑2 positions), PUBG (↓1), and Dota 2 in the top 5.

Pre-orders for Black Myth: Wukong drove the upcoming game to #7 overall, up 11 positions from the previous week. It also dethroned Elden Ring, which was the highest-grossing premium game on Steam for six weeks in a row.

Below are the top 10 premium games by gross revenue for the week of July 30-August 6 (excluding F2P titles and Steam Deck):

  1. Black Myth: Wukong
  2. Elden Ring
  3. Dead by Daylight

  5. Baldur’s Gate 3
  6. Call of Duty
  7. Chained Together

Looking at new games on the list, Stormgate debuted at #62 overall. Launched in Early Access on July 30, it currently sits at “Mixed” rating on Steam (58% of just over 1,000 user reviews are positive), with many players criticizing the game’s single-player content and certain elements while also noting that it has potential thanks to its blend of StarCraft 2 and Warcraft 3 mechanics.

According to SteamDB, Stormgate peaked at 4,854 concurrent users at launch. The numbers could increase when it goes free-to-play on August 13. However, there is a good chance that the game will fall off of the charts given its poor performance at the start of paid Early Access.

When it comes to monetization, players can now purchase EA packs to try Stormgate two weeks before its free-to-play launch. In terms of story content, developer Frost Giant Studios will offer a free prologue, with the campaign’s Chapter 1 sold as paid content.

Several games managed to return to Steam’s global weekly top sellers list, with Enshrouded landing at #22 overall (#11 when only looking at premium titles) thanks to its new update. Other comebacks of the week include Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (#59), Dome Keeper (#61), Remnant II (#63), and Hitman: World of Assassination (#64).
