The First Descendant became the highest-grossing game on Steam for the week of July 2-9. It dethroned Elden Ring, which ranked 1st for the two weeks thanks to the launch of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.

Nexon’s free-to-play shooter also peaked at over 264k concurrent players over the weekend, cementing its place among the biggest launches of 2024 in terms of peak CCU. The game, however, still has mixed reviews on Steam, with many players criticizing its monetization and calling it predatory.

In addition to The First Descendant, there were three free-to-play titles in the top 10: Counter-Strike 2 (#3), PUBG (#5), and Naraka: Bladepoint (#8). The latter moved up 56 positions following the release of the Season 13 update featuring a new map, mechanisms, weapons, and events. As a result, 24 Entertainment’s battle royale action game set its new CCU record, peaking at 385.7k concurrent players last week.
