Despite the disappointing Season 1 and other post-launch issues, Diablo IV seems to be performing well for Blizzard in terms of revenue and player engagement. Here are some new stats about the game and its position in the market.

Diablo IV was #1 game by revenue in the US and UK in July, according to Newzoo

  • Many users also stopped playing other games to jump into Diablo IV. For example, 16.3% of Call of Duty: Modern Warfar II (and Warzone) players switched to Blizzard’s new title last month. The same percentage is also true for Fortnite.
  • When it comes to the RPG genre, 13.6% of Final Fantasy XVI players switched to Diablo IV, followed by Diablo II: Resurrected (5.64%) and Hogwarts Legacy (5.52%).

  • As a result, Diablo IV was the number one RPG globally in terms of monthly active users (MAU) in July. Across all genres, it ranked 9th on PC and 15th on consoles.
  • The top three countries by MAU were the US, Germany, and South Korea.
  • The average playtime was 42 hours, with gamers also spending more than 28 million hours watching content on Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook Gaming.
