King has announced the acquisition of Peltarion, a Swedish company focused on AI and machine learning. This deal should help the Candy Crush developer integrate these technologies into its mobile games.

According to the official announcement, King will use this investment to become a hub for the world’s top talent in game AI and discover new game design, development, and live-ops capabilities.

“We believe the talented Peltarion team, together with the powerful technology they have built, will help us serve our players even more effectively with more engaging games and content,” King president Tjodolf Sommestad said in a statement. “This is yet another step towards our mission of making the world playful.”

Peltarion co-founders Luka Crnkovic-Friis and Måns Essén will take on leadership roles at King. They will focus on advancing King’s AI and machine learning capabilities.

Founded in 2004, Peltarion has worked with companies and organizations like NASA, Dell, Harvard, and Tesla.
