Of the 8 million pre-orders for Cyberpunk 2077, the PC version accounted for 4.72 million. This makes Cyberpunk the biggest day one launch ever for a PC game — the title previously held (even if briefly) by World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
The expansion sold 3.7 million copies globally during its launch day.
Blizzard announced the record-breaking day one sales for WoW: Shadowlands on December 8. Its record held for two days until CD Projekt Red revealed the number of Cyberpunk 2077‘s PC pre-orders on December 10.
Cyberpunk is also likely to have contributed to yet another record. On December 12, Steam saw its concurrent player count reach 776,635 users, which broke the platform’s previous record of 22 million concurrent players.
