Since July 1, Apple has removed nearly 42,000 IAP and premium games from the App Store in China. These titles failed to have obtained a government approval by July 31.
This is in compliance with a 2016 regulation that requires games to have an International Standard Book Number, or ISBN to be monetized in China.
According to Niko Partners, Apple removed 14,914 titles in July and then another 26,815 games August 1. The marketing firm expects remaining unlicensed titles to be removed by the end of December, Venture Beat reports.
