Twitter user Dusk Golem posted a thread saying that a new Silent Hill title has been in development since early 2019.
It is being developed by SIE Japan Studios and will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
The game is allegedly a soft reboot of the series, which is now already playable. A demo of the title exists, according to the insider.
Keiichiro Toyama, who was the game director on the original Silent Hill, has returned along with designer Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yaomoka. Other developers who worked on Siren and Gravity Rush are also working on the new game.
Dusk Golem previously stated that Sony was interested in reviving the Silent Hill series, with two teams being in talks with Sony and Konami on two independent Silent Hill games. One was Kojima Productions, which, according to the latest information, didn’t get the job. The other studio made up of Team Silent employees went ahead with the project, which is now shaping up to be a PS5 exclusive.
Sony, according to Dusk Golem, has not attempted to buy the IP from Konami.
As for Konami, in March it denied rumors of the Silent Hill comeback. However, the company said, “It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported.”
