Facebook has purchased Spanish cloud gaming company PlayGiga. It cost Facebook $78 million, according to CNBC.
A Facebook representative confirmed the deal to CNBC, but didn’t provide any additional information on the deal.
Madrid-based PlayGiga was founded in 2013. Gamesindustry.biz reports that prior to the acquisition, the firm had provided cloud gaming services to mobile carriers and other companies across Italy, Argentina, Chile, and Spain. Its cloud solutions power over 300 games including Batman: Arkham City, Mad Max, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Life Is Strange and others.

Facebook has recently acquired Beat Games, the studio behind VR hit Beat Saber. With the acquisition of PlayGiga, Facebook further expands its gaming portfolio. Both deals take place as VR and cloud gaming are starting to get momentum.
