It’s a lot. For comparison, in the first week on sale, Uncharted 4, a best-selling PlayStation 4 exclusive, sold 2.7 million copies. God of War hit 3.1 million copies sold at launch. Only Marvel’s Spider-Man came close with 3.3 million copies sold in the first three days.
The result makes Final Fantasy VII Remake one of the fastest-selling games of the current generation PlayStation. The game is not available on other platforms, nor do we know if it’s going to.
The successful launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake, as well as equally impressive releases of Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes from Capcom, suggests that gamers are not just ready for the reinterpretations of the old hits, they are looking forward to them.
