Gamescom organizers took to Twitter to discuss where they are with the preparation of the world’s biggest games show. The event, scheduled to run from August 25 to August 29, is still a go.
This is despite the fact that the city of Cologne, where Gamescom is to take place, has imposed a ban on all events with over 10,000 attendees. For reference, last year, 373,000 people attended Gamescom.
However, the current ban is in place until April 10, so unless it’s extended, it will not affect the show.
The organizers assured that take the situation around coronavirus very seriously ”because the health of all trade fair visitors and partners is our top priority.”
In the event that they have to cancel or postpone the show following the recommendations of the authorities, the organizers promise to refund all the tickets purchased.
With GDC postponed and E3 cancelled, Gamescom is the next big industry event games event whose future is uncertain in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
