Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 has surpassed 4.5 million players since its launch on September 9 (those who pre-ordered the special editions joined the game four days earlier), Focus Entertainment announced today.

“We want to thank every single Space Marine who has joined the fight a month ago,” the publisher wrote.

Thanks to strong pre-orders, the game crossed the 2 million mark on September 10, meaning it took just over a month to sell another 2.5M+ million copies. The game is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, but it is unclear how users are distributed across platforms.

Earlier this month, Saber chief creative officer Tim Willits noted that the studio doesn’t need to sell 4 million units to make Space Marine 2 a success. He noted on bloated budgets of many AAA games, especially those made in North America, saying that “what business are we in where you fail if you sell less than five million?”

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 currently has a “Very Positive” (82%) rating on Steam based on more than 77k user reviews. It also peaked at over 225k concurrent players at full launch, still reaching tens of thousands of peak CCU daily.

According to research firm Aldora, Space Marine 2 has already generated 1.8x more revenue than all other Warhammer 40k games combined last year.
