The French studio behind Remember Me and the original Life Is Strange has only a few months of runway left. Its future beyond January 2027 is suddenly in doubt.
The studio dropped its financials for the first half of 2026 this week, and the numbers are grim.
- Revenue came in at €6.1 million. Not nearly enough to cover costs: DON’T NOD finished the half in the red, posting a €4.3 million loss.
- And it’s not the first time the studio has bled cash. Last year, the company was down €2 million in the first half of 2025 — followed by a €10.3 million wipeout in the second half.
- By the end of July 2026, DON’T NOD had just €8 million in the bank. Given its current reserves and projected cash flows, the studio’s continuation past January 31, 2027 is no longer a sure thing. Survival now hinges on landing outside financing.
- DON’T NOD had already begun trimming costs. Now the company is recalibrating — and the new direction is harsh.
- First, no more parallel projects. The studio will work on just one game at a time.
- Second, layoffs are on the table. DON’T NOD is weighing cuts that could put roughly 90 people out of a job. The studio’s exact current headcount hasn’t been disclosed, but with around 320 employees as recently as 2022 and earlier rounds of cuts already on the books, the proposed cull would amount to roughly half the workforce.
