Dragami Games has shared a new milestone for the Lollipop Chainsaw remaster. The action game turned out to be a success for the Japanese company.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has sold over 200k units globally since its September 12 launch, Dragami Games announced on social media. The game is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, but it is unclear how the figures are split between platforms.

The game crossed the 100k mark in its first week, meaning it took less than four months to sell another 100k copies.

In November, Dragami Games’ parent company Extreme told investors that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP “significantly exceeded” its initial sales targets.

As a result, the company raised its revenue outlook for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025 from ¥11 billion ($69.6 million) to ¥11.65 billion ($73.7 million). It also expects its operating profit to reach ¥1.5 billion ($9.49 million), compared to the previous forecast of ¥1 billion ($6.32 million).

The original Lollipop Chainsaw, developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and published by Kadokawa Games, came out in June 2012 and sold over 1 million units in under two years. As of June 2024, its lifetime sales reached 1.24 million copies, making it the best-selling title in Grasshopper’s portfolio.

In May 2022, Kadokawa divested its Kadokawa Games subsidiary into a new company called Dragami Games. It was founded by Yoshimi Yasuda, who also served as an executive producer on the original Lollipop Chainsaw. Following the divestment, the studio secured IP rights for the game, as well as brands like Demon Gaze and God Wars.

It is worth noting that the original Lollipop Chainsaw was only available on PS3 and Xbox 360, not to mention that it was eventually delisted from the digital stores. So its remastered version became a way to revive the game and expand its audience.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP currently has a “Very Positive” (86%) rating on Steam based on 1,481 user reviews. According to SteamDB, it also peaked at 989 concurrent players on the platform.
