We continue our review of 2024 together with top managers and experts from the games industry (and related fields). Up next is an interview with Vladimir Markov, CEO of Top App Games.
How was 2024 for Top App Games? What achievements would you like to highlight?
2024 was dynamic, filled with events and challenges. The games market remains complex and highly competitive, especially due to intense competition for traffic. However, the year’s results are truly encouraging: our product, Ludus, has become a real hit. We are steadily growing and capable of running profitable traffic acquisition campaigns even over short periods. This confirms that our team is moving in the right direction and has a clear understanding of how to further develop the project to attract and retain new users. This success is a significant step forward and an inspiration for the future.

How do you think the games market environment has changed?
In short, the main changes boil down to decreasing retention rates and rising user acquisition costs (CPI). Competition in the market is intensifying, making it harder than ever to capture audience attention. Against this backdrop, Ludus can be considered a phenomenon. The fact that our product is growing even in today’s challenging market conditions is nothing short of a miracle.
How was the year for the genre in which you operate?
Speaking of Ludus, it’s safe to say that it has essentially created its own genre. Its launch was a significant event for the market. I know that teams worldwide are already taking inspiration from our idea and attempting to replicate it. That’s undoubtedly a form of recognition! Therefore, we can confidently call this year the birth year of a new genre.

What trends in your niche do you expect to strengthen or emerge in 2025?
Making predictions is always tricky, but I believe that games with relaxed, “passive” gameplay will continue to capture user interest. Simple and addictive projects like Ludus can attract and retain a broad audience. In my view, such games will keep gaining traction in the market.
What are the company’s plans for next year?
We plan to strengthen our team, further develop Ludus, and bring to life many exciting ideas we have in the pipeline. Additionally, we aim to create a new game that will be just as successful and surpass our previous records. Of course, we’ll also seek to attract new teams — talented, ambitious, and daring ones. We have lofty goals, and we’re confident that we can achieve them.
