Today we want to highlight a new successful crowdfunding campaign from indie developers. Super Zoo Story, a pixelated life sim about building your own animal park, has found massive support from the community.

According to its Kickstarter page, Super Zoo Story has already raised over $176k from nearly 4,000 backers since the launch of its crowdfunding campaign on October 1. That’s 293.5% of its original goal of just $60k, which the game reached in its first three days.

Super Zoo Story is being developed by the husband-and-wife duo, Ihor (producer) and Anna (artist), with the help of programmer Aleksey. “About three years ago, we started dedicating all our time to it, enriching the world each day with new gameplay mechanics, locations, and characters,” the devs wrote.

As they pointed out in a FAQ (thanks, GamesRadar+), Super Zoo Story is inspired by classics like Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon. In fact, the similarities in the asset style were so clear that they have since “redrawn the game to reflect our own unique vision.”

With the Kickstarter campaign ending on October 31, the team still has two more stretch goals to reach. They will involve porting the game to consoles (PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch) and adding a child growth system.

Super Zoo Story will be published by Crytivo, known for working indie games like Above the Snakes, The Crust, Farlanders, and The Universim. It is currently expected to launch in the second half of 2026, with alpha scheduled for 2025.
