With the PC and console market dominated by evergreen live service hits and established franchises, it is interesting to see how many new releases are able to compete with them. Newzoo has shared some data on the top games by revenue in the first quarter of 2024.
Helldivers 2
In a new blog post, Newzoo took a closer look at the highest-grossing titles for the period across the six markets it covers: the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
Fortnite ranked 1st, accounting for over 10% of all PC and console game revenues in the first quarter. It is followed by EA Sports FC 24 with an 8.3% share.
Helldivers 2, which has been dominating premium charts since its February 8 launch, took third place. Only two other new games released in 2024 made the top 10: Dragon’s Dogma II (#7) and Palworld (#8).
Despite these titles’ strong launches, the top 10 is still dominated by annual releases such as Call of Duty and NBA 2k24, as well as free-to-play live services such as Fortnite and Valorant.
Below is the full list of the top PC and console games by revenue in the US and Europe in Q1 2024, according to Newzoo:
- Fortnite
- EA Sports FC 24
- Helldivers 2
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II/III/Warzone 2.0
- NBA 2k24
- Madden NFL 24

Although Fortnite ranked 1st overall and in the US specifically, EA Sports FC 24 topped the charts in Europe. Electronic Arts’ football sim accounted for over 20% of total revenue in the region, followed by Fortnite (8.4%) and Helldivers 2 (6.4%).
Helldivers 2 also became the highest-grossing PC game in Q1 2024, accounted for 8.56% of the total. Interestingly, the top titles differ by region — for example, Call of Duty ranked 5th in the US but 9th in Europe, while League of Legends took 4th place in Europe but 8th in the US.
When only looking at new games released in 2024, Helldivers 2 was number one by cumulative revenue in the US and Europe. And only two titles in the top 10 were original IPs — Palworld and Skull and Bones:
