Austin-based company Arctic7 has started its global expansion by opening a new studio in Montenegro. The team led by former Sperasoft production director will primarily focus on game development.

According to a press release, the new office will help Artic7 strengthen its development capabilities and focus on quality and creative output on future projects.

Former Sperasoft production director Kedhrin Gonzalez will take on the role as Montenegro studio head. “We are curating an environment that fosters creativity and growth, and this is coupled with Montenegro’s excellent IT infrastructure; there aren’t many better places to inspire imagination and creativity,” he said.

The studio is now working on a number of unannounced projects. The Montenegro office now employs 35 people, hiring for more roles in production, engineering, QA, art, and design. As a result, the company plans to hire up to 40 new employees this year.

Arctic7 emerged earlier this year after successfully raising $2 million in a seed round led by Grishin Robotics. It was established by Sperasoft co-founders Igor Efremov and Mark Rizzo, as well as games industry veteran Alan Van Slyke who worked in senior roles at companies like Epic Games, EA, Sony, and Microsoft.
