Experienced investor and gaming CEO Kristian Segerstrale has called on the industry to step in and help fight climate change. He said that it is time to do something about it.

Segerstrale shared his message on October 25, saying that other games industry leaders should take action on the ongoing climate change. As he told Axios, “If you’re doing well when the world isn’t doing well, it’s on you to help out.”

The message arrived just months after Segerstrale helped raise $1.4 million to combat climate change. Earlier this year, he urged everyone to support climate nonprofits and contribute their talent and advocacy for the fight.

Now Segerstrale wants his colleagues to play their part. He is also worried about reports that forecast a 5-10% chance of the Earth warming by 5-6°C. “If you run a company and there’s a 5% to 10% chance of something going wrong, like you buy insurance, right?” he said in the latest interview.

Kristian Segerstrale is a games industry veteran who is now running Super Evil Megacorp (developer of mobile MOBA Vainglory). Prior to that, he was a co-founder of Playfish and led a seed round into Supercell in 2010.
