Tallinn-based indie studio Mishura Games, made up of the former Limestone Games developers, has announced side-scrolling beat-em-up IMMORTAL: And The Death That Follows.

The title inspired by fighting games and 90s anime features gameplay that developers describe as “equal parts Mario and Mortal Kombat.”

In case you haven’t been following the project’s history, Mishura was founded in September 2020, following the controversial exodus of eight team members from Limestone Games. The departees accused Limestone of  multiple workplace abuses during the development of Aeon Must Die! Since then, the former Limestone developers, currently of Mishura Games, have continued to challenge Limestone’s ownership rights for the IP. Limestone, on the other hand, has consistently denied the allegations and continued to develop Aeon Must Die!, which is published by Focus Entertainment (formerly Focus Home Interactive). The title is due out on October 14.

As for IMMORTAL: And The Death That Follows, it will be released on PC in 2025, with the Early Access version coming out in 2023. Console versions are coming for PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch.
